E Ink Holdings, "E Ink" (8069.TW), the leading innovator of electronic ink technology, has partnered with MpicoSys to supply an ePaper wall and information system in Kulturzentrum Ludwigsburg, a local cultural center in Ludwigsburg, Germany.

The installation shows current activities in the center, with a complete overview on seven 31.2” POE-updated displays at the entrance of the building, a single PicoSign 31.2” WIFI-updated (battery powered) and 28 pieces of PicoSign 13.3” WIFI-updated (battery powered) displays next to each individual room for activity announcements.

The project was installed in Germany by AVE Verhengsten GmbH & Co, based on a design by MESO Digital Interiors GmbH. Design, engineering and production of the display units were done by MpicoSys. The installation’s updated information is managed via MpicoSys cloud server software.

The reason the end customer, Kulturzentrum, chose the ePaper technology was due to the easy updates and non-intrusiveness as well as low power consumption. Use of batteries enabled using the 13.3” E Ink displays next to individual rooms - easy installation without connecting to the mains grid or using network cables. Visitors benefit from always up-to-date information on the displays, as even last time changes can be done.

“Using E Ink 31.2” and 13.3” display components, MpicoSys has developed a unique installation in Kulturzentrum Ludwigsburg. It is the first ‘7-up’, and largest installation of 31.2” displays we know about in the world. The use case is exchanging the formerly used regular paper with electronic paper enabling easy updates. The largest challenge in this area was our United Nations installation of 231 displays, but this screen size offered a different challenge we liked to take up”, says Pawel Musial, CTO at MpicoSys.
