MpicoSys technology @ museum ZKM in Karlsruhe

We know that Eink material is brilliant for use in a museum because of its non-intrusiveness, no light emission.
Jon Stam of Commonplace Studio approached us for adding a product with epaper for his idea of adding information to museum objects. In fact being able to scroll through selected information on artist, period, used materials etc. by the museum conservator. Thus making use of the vast amount of additional knowledge available in the museum's catalogs.

MpicoSys made the idea into a product that is fun to use and the first of its kind. Shown for the first time in museum ZKM - Zentrum für Kunst und Medien in Karlsruhe - Germany.

The exhibition Matter, Non-Matter, Anti-Matter presents interactive digital models of Les Immatériaux (Centre Pompidou, 1985) and Iconoclash. Beyond the Image Wars in Science, Religion, and Art (ZKM, 2002) on the newly developed Immaterial Display, and presents their original catalogs on custom epaper displays. The exhibition is organized in the framework of the international practice-based co-operation project Beyond Matter (beyondmatter.eu).

HOW IT WORKS

The "pull string" initiates a continuous "advancement page by page" of the exhibition catalog.
The "forward and back "chapter buttons" skip to the next or previous chapter title page.
The "index/home" button returns to the catalogue "table of contents" page.

The installation is now on its way to Centre Pompidou in Paris, France..
